Post 3: Transantiago. Before and After

Hello =)
In this oportunity I'm going to talk about the public transport system in Santiago, its name is Transantiago and it isn't really good.
I was born in Santiago and I've been live here all my life, so I'm an appropiate witnees to talk about of its changes.
Before Transantiago, there were yellow buses wich recovered the city in sense north-south and west-east. The most part of them made a long route, for example there were bus wich were almost that 3 hours "working". Those routes were very usefull 'cause you could move by the city using just one bus. In that time the subway was unknow for the comon people, and it always had space. It was very strange if the subway was full, that didn't happend normaly.
I've always been thinking that Transantiago is a good idea, the problem is its implementation. When the Government introduced it in 2007, they didn't think about the demography of the city, wich were the most using routes, etc. They just did it 'cause they had to show to the people that they did something for the country, it doesn't matter if it was right or wrong, just did it.
There is just three things that I can to emphasize of this new public transport system:
1. Bip card
2. New Buses
3. Color buses
The bip card is a good idea, and it brings a lot of advantages not only for busdriver: now they don't carry cash then they aren't victims of steals as like in the past (yellow buses); in respect to users, now they can use the same card (and ticket, until 3 transfer) to travel by bus or subway, it is more convenient, fast and safe than pay with cash, even if the bus is moving.
Altought there are few new buses, they contribute to the earth, because the don't pollute as much as yellow buses. Finally, I like the color buses cause it changes city's image. It is very nice to me to look for my way to one place to another in a color map, and it get better when I stay in a corner and I can see different color buses by the street.

In my opinion there are more bad things than good things related to Transantiago system, they are the result of a lot of differents factors wich are connected. Anyway, Transantiago isn't a good public transport system, actually it is a big problem.

After all, it could be better and it must to get better

A country I would like to visit

Well here I am. I would like to visit a lot of countries, but I have to choose one.... so.... the winner is....(this is too hard..) Scotland.

I've never been out of Chile (wait... I'm lying, once I was in Argentina), even I know my own country. Although I would love it, I don't have the conditions and the enough money to travel to other places. I could get a job and to saved money but I've spent my time in the university, with my family and boyfriend and doing housework (it isn't so bad).
The time that everyone usually use to travel is in holidays or vacations. In my case, I trip with my family to cities near to Santiago to spend our "relax time". Unfortunately my parents, every summer, didn't have enough time, so we went out just for a couple of weeks; the rest of the summer I took care of my little sister and my little brother ( I became in a babysister) 'cause my parents had to working. Nevertheless I always had a good good time, because my family is very funny.

Anyway... returning to Scotland...

I would like to visit it, because I want to see with my own eyes its beautifull and great places: its landscapes, castles, lakes, etc etc etc... I love that piece of earth (meadow, rain, clouds, and a blue sky) I don't know much about it, I just think in it since I've been see pictures of it. Nothing else. Altought I think that Scotland must be a beautifull and a great place to live, I don't feel sure about go out of Chile and saty to live in another country.... probably I won't stand up be far of my family. I even want to think about it.

If I had the posibility of study in another country, just for a while, there is a high probability of do it, even if I know, from now, that it would be very very difficult. I am a home-loving person and I enjoy a lot spent time in my home doing things there or with my family.

Travel, is something that I would like to do if all my family could come with me.

Regards =)

Dania

1 st post: Good and bad points

Hi!
The last semester was really hard. I'd never been so tired before. I had to read a lot of texts, essays and papers, releated with my subjects, and then made works or presentations about it. Psicology, Latinamerican History, English 3, Anthropology III, Linguistics, Statistics II, and Elements from Physical Anthropology were the six subjects that were given the last semester and that I had to take. In all them I learned a lot of new things, like perspectives or approachs to understand the human phenomenon. Psicology and Linguistics were very interesting for me, beacuse those discipline are totally different of my carrer even they can to complement. My favorite subject was Anthropology III, it given to me a new concept of the carrer and a new perspective about the kind of research that I would like to do in the future, even I want to be a Physical Anthropology.
The last semester didn't let me any free time, it was a shame. I like to do sports o just take a walk, but the last semester makes me spend a lot of time studing, even during weekends. My boyfriend and me had some troubles to meet us, because any of us had time. Although, we always tried to stay together. Actually, some weekends we get together just for study.
I think that this semester would be hardest than the last one, but I'm trying to organize my job and let time for my family, boyfriend and friends. It would be my priority.
